Financial Aid

Students interested in applying for summer aid, must have a completed student financial aid file and meet specific eligibility requirements. Students must complete and submit the summer aid request form to the Student Financial Aid Office by June 15th. The form requires students to document the anticipated amount of hours that they plan to enroll in for summer I and II sessions. The hours submitted must be accurate; we therefore suggest consulting the Summer 2009 Schedule and visiting with an Academic Advisor to determine specific hours of enrollment.

Students that are eligible for summer aid will receive a response detailing exact amounts awarded per summer session. A response will also be sent to students that do not qualify for summer aide. Ineligibility may be based on one of the following circumstances:

o Student may have used all 2008-2009 Pell Grant eligibility
o Student did not a qualify for 2008-2009 Pell Grant

In addition to a summer Pell grant, students may also qualify for a summer Stafford Student Loan if they meet the following criteria:

o Be enrolled in at least half time hours
o Have borrowed the maximum allowed for the students grade level during the fall 2008 or spring 2009 terms.

Southwest Texas Junior College also offers a payment plan, further information detailing these payment options are available under the Echasier option.

Please contact the Student Financial Aid Office at 830-591-7343, for further details on summer aid and loan eligibility.
