Northwest Vista College began offering classes in the fall of 1995 as one of the newest additions to the Alamo Colleges. Classes were held at the Northside Independent School District and at partner corporation sites. Our enrollment that first semester was 12 students.
Currently there are nearly 12,000 students taking courses at Northwest Vista College and several off-site locations in a traditional daytime classroom setting as well as evening, Internet, hybrid and weekend courses. Most of the programs offered lead to a two-year associate degree or one-year certificate option.
Most recently Northwest Vista college opened four new buildings; Juniper Hall, Red Bud Learning Center, Cypress Campus Center and Live Oak Hall. Our Palmetto Fine and Performing arts building will open summer 2009.

The most important function of the Student Financial Services (SFS) Office is to help students and families pay for a Northwest Vista College education. It is our philosophy that students and parents are primarily responsible for the student's education. However, the goal of the Student Financial Services Office is to assist students avail themselves of as many state and federal financial aid opportunities as possible.
Scholarships, grants and loans are available through the Financial Aid Office. Any or all of these may be combined in a "financial aid package" to help pay for educational expenses. Scholarships and grants do not have to be repaid. Loans must be repaid and are not encouraged at Northwest Vista.
