Program Description

Air Products is a leading worldwide company, serving customers in industrial, energy, technology and healthcare markets with a unique portfolio of atmospheric gases, process and specialty gases, performance materials, and equipment and services.

The HSF/Air Products Excellence in Engineering program will award two outstanding engineering majors with a $15,000 scholarship each. Eligible candidates should be majoring in mechanical or chemical engineering.

Applicants may also be offered the opportunity to participate in a summer internship at various Air Products locations.

Eligibility Requirements

* Be of Hispanic American heritage.
* Be a current first year with plans to enroll as a FULL-TIME sophomore during the 2010-2011 academic year OR be a current sophomore with plans to enroll as a FULL-TIME junior during the 2010-2011 academic year.
* Be a U.S. citizen or legal permanent resident of the United States with a valid Social Security Number at the time of application. All legal permanent residents must submit a copy of their valid permanent resident card or passport stamped I-551.
* Have a minimum cumulative grade point average (GPA) of 3.00 on a 4.00 scale.
* Submit a current resume.
* Must be majoring in Chemical Engineering or Mechanical Engineering.
* Must be planning to attend one of the following universities in the 2010-2011 year:

o Georgia Institute of Technology (Georgia)
o Howard University (Washington, D.C.)
o Lafayette College (Pennsylvania)
o Lamar University (Pennsylvania)

* Must apply for federal financial aid by completing the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA)
* Submit an essay describing their interests in engineering, accomplishments, plans, goals, and what distinguishes them from other engineering students.
