The Digital Fabrication Residency is a hands-on online intensive skill-building incubator for visual artists, designers with the desire to incorporate digital fabrication into artwork and design projects. The residency utilizes online collaborative tools to enable learning, consultation and idea development catered to the individual project needs of participants. This is an opportunity for artists and designers to engage in expanding their knowledge of digital tools, learn resources, powerful workflows, and directly connect with other professionals including fabrication specialists, and innovators in 'making'.

The Digital Fabrication Residency is an online program designed to work with your busy schedule. Connect from your studio, kitchen, coffee shop, local FabLab....

Workshops include technical demonstrations in entry-level programs to professional level software workflows for designing, modeling, engineering parts, file preparation, including how traditional workflows can augment digital output and locating CNC related services and professional level services providers for machine output.

Individual project consultation from idea to execution.

As part of the residency program, residents can submit files for 3D printing, laser cuts and digital embroidery output*

For the duration of the residency term to which the resident is accepted, selected temporary software licenses are provided.

Gain experience with dedicated professional artists, fabricators and industry professionals at the forefront and dedicated to the digital craft of making. Applicants are welcome to apply for 12 week or 6 week residency sessions.


Application Instructions

Applications are submitted via the link below by completing our online application form. A completed application includes a bio statement, project/area of concentration proposal, either a website link to your portfolio website or by emailing your images to the email address provided on the Apply form and a $15 application fee.

Applications are reviewed on an ongoing basis. A limited number of spaces are available per session. Available session dates are updated regularly on the Apply form. Please see the Apply form for residency fee information that the resident is responsible for in order to take part in the residency program.
