BACKGROUND
The Melaka International Youth Dialogue (MIYD) is an annual programme of the World Assembly of Youth (WAY) which brings together young people and youth leaders from
around the world to discuss pertinent youth issues.

MIYD 2009 THEME
The theme selected for MIYD 2009 is Youth and Gender Equality. This theme has been selected in realization of the need to educate, increase awareness, to promote gender
equality among youth.

OBJECTIVES
The objectives of MIYD 2009 are:
• To achieve a behavior modification amongst youth;
• To promote equality of opportunities between young women and young men in all its functions;
• To eliminate unlawful discrimination and harassment on ground of sex amongst youth;
• To increase youth awareness and their responsibilities regarding the gender equality issue;

PARTICIPANTS
WAY invites participants from National Youth Councils, Youth Organizations, Ministries of Youth, etc. National delegations are encouraged to register gender-balanced groups.
There is no specific age limit but delegations are encouraged to include young people below the age of 30. The total number of participants in this programme shall be 200 from at least 70 different countries.

PARTICIPATION FEE
A participation fee of U$150 (one hundred and fifty US dollars), inclusive of registration fee, twin-sharing accommodation and food shall be levied on all participants. This fee is payable in advance or on arrival.

REGISTRATION
All delegates should register with the WAY secretariat by the 10th June 2009.
Registrations shall be considered on a first-come-first-served basis. Once all places are full registration will be closed. All details of flight information should be received by WAY by 15th June 2009.
