Announcement follows

The Ewing Marion Kauffman Foundation is pleased to announce that the nomination period for the Kauffman Junior Faculty Fellowship in Entrepreneurship Research opens on November 13, 2014. This program recognizes junior faculty who are beginning to establish a record of scholarship and exhibit the potential to make significant contributions to the body of research in the field of entrepreneurship. The Kauffman Foundation will award up to seven fellowships to junior faculty members from universities across the United States. Each Fellow’s university will receive a grant of $35,000 over two years to support the research activities of the Fellow.

This program will help launch a cohort of world-class scholars into this young and exciting field, thus laying a foundation for future scientific advancement. The research produced by these fine scholars will be translated into knowledge with application for policymakers, educators, service providers, and entrepreneurs.

The Kauffman Foundation is proud to sponsor this important research initiative. Please take a moment to read the following pages for a more complete description of the Kauffman Junior Faculty Fellowship in Entrepreneurship Research. We encourage you to nominate qualified individuals for this fellowship. We also ask that you forward this Call for Nominations to colleagues who would be interested in nominating other qualified candidates.

The Kauffman Foundation established the Kauffman Junior Faculty Fellowship in Entrepreneurship Research in 2008 to recognize tenured or tenure-track junior faculty members at accredited U.S. universities who are beginning to establish a record of scholarship and exhibit the potential to make significant contributions to the body of research in the field of entrepreneurship.

This initiative will help to launch world-class scholars into a young and exciting field of research, thus laying a foundation for future scientific advancement. The findings generated by this effort will be translated into knowledge with significant applications for policymakers, educators, service providers, and entrepreneurs as well as high-quality academic research.

The Kauffman Junior Faculty Fellowship in Entrepreneurship Research is one of three academic recognition programs established by the Kauffman Foundation to aid the Foundation in achieving its goal of building a body of respected entrepreneurship research and making entrepreneurship a highly regarded academic field. The other programs are the Kauffman Dissertation Fellowship Program and the Ewing Marion Kauffman Prize Medal for Distinguished Research in Entrepreneurship.

ELIGIBILITY:

Eligible candidates must meet the following criteria:
1. Tenured or tenure-track junior faculty members at accredited U.S. institutions of higher education.
2. Received a Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree between January 1, 2010 and December 31, 2013.
3. Currently researching issues of theoretical and practical importance to the domain of entrepreneurship.

FUNDING:

Grant awards will be made to the recipient’s institution. Kauffman policy does not allow for overhead or indirect costs to be paid as a part of the grant.
Approximately fifty percent (50%) of the grant award will be disbursed in summer 2015 for the 2015–2016 academic year.

The remaining funds will be disbursed upon receipt of a progress report (including financials) from the Fellow during summer 2016 for the 2016–2017 academic year. It is expected that the grant will conclude on August 31, 2017. Requests for extensions will be considered on an individual basis.
